In the Fall of 2024 the Family of Terra Nova Churches will explore 8-10 ancient spiritual rhythms (or repeated practices) that God has invited His people to walk with Him in. Our hope is that by returning to these ancient practices, new seasons of growth and steadfastness will be harvested in our hearts and church family.
So, wether you are in Troy, NY or Saratoga Springs, NY or in North Adams, MA – please find your way to a local Terra Nova Church and journey along with us!
Anna lives in Latham, NY with her husband, Tory, and their pup Trousers. Anna works professionally as an architect and is also using her gifts as an artist for the Terra Family of Churches.
To help us remember this series, we will be giving away stickers so be sure to pick these up at your local Terra Sunday Gatherings.
While considering this series, the themes of agriculture and cultivating growth through all the seasons came to mind (tilling, planting, watering, growing, harvesting, storing, hibernating, and so forth). From here, inspiration emerged from early American art found in The Old Farmer’s Almanac, the longest continuous publication in the US. The soft earth tones, weather & plants, thin lines, and antebellum typeset are all reminiscent of scientific illustrations that one may have found in an old Almanac.
Yet, while there are advancements in agricultural science, some of our best farming practices are those farmers have utilized for generations and return to season after season after season. Likewise, our spiritual health is found in returning to timeless rhythms and practices God has given us and that have been handed down from generation to generation of His people.
The Farmer’s Almanac would also record weather forecasts, best gardening practices, recipes, among so much more. The Bible can lead us and guide us along God’s will for our lives, but it is more than just a book of tips on godliness. This book is the living, breathing, life-giving word of God. Our roots are anchored not only in this earth, but also in heaven, in the Son of God Himself. He is our compass, our North star. Fix your eyes on Him and you will never be led astray.
